1/10/08 - Crocodile Rock 2/9/08 - FYE (Acoustic Show) 1-20-08 Crocodile Rock 1-19-08 Cafe` Metropolis 1/12/08 Fagan's Billiards I need to start this off right. As this is the initial assault for my 'Tour Diary'. We are a good 12 days into the new year, but I wanted to wait until we were playing to our hometown crew of fans to make this work. I don't really know exactly how to do this thing. I am not an avid user of Live Journal or anything internet related besides MySpace. Do I talk about just the show seeing as this is a tour/show diary? Nah, I'm sure more of you are interested in what goes on all day in the life of Jeremy Romani. (By the way. In real life, I'm really lame. My ego and stregth is only on the internet.) Here goes. (One more thing. ( )'s are to explain what I'm talking about directly to you. That's probably a good idea.) Okay for real now. I should probably start with last night to explain the morning and then on tonight's show better. Expect these entries to be long. You'll learn a lot though. ( i.e. How much of a loser I really am. New words for your lexicon. F it. Maybe I'll include a word of the day.)
I never have a good way of starting these things off. I guess I'll go with what happened the pervious night for this one. After our show last night I was extremely tired. I talked to _____, on the phone for a little bit then tried taking a nap. Didn't work out so well I was called by a few people to go to a going away party for a friend of a friend heading into the military. I felt kind of stuck there at first as I didn't drive but then I started munching down on some wings. (My diet = Wings, Salads, Sushi, Ramen Noodles) After a bit everyone decided to start drinking. I was asked to go buy beer which was very fortuidous as I wanted to get my car anyway. Keystone Ice (Brought me back to Highschool memories) was on sale so I got a bunch of cases for them and we head back where I later got shot with a BB gun in the stomach by the dudes little brother. After that I decided to take off. I didn't drink at all but was still nervous to drive on the black ice but I managed. I picked up a friend and we watched a movie and talked until like 3am. (The movie was Closer if you were wondering. It's evil.) I drove her home and then thought I'd be tired but really wasn't so I put on tv and to my surprise... Home Alone 2! (I immediately started giggling. That's what I do during that movie.) After the "Sticky Bandits" got what they had coming to them I had to go to sleep. As always I had weird dreams. (We won't talk about my sleep anxiety.) I woke up around 10:30. Took a shower, read my email, and drove to Mark's. When I got there no one was there so I cleaned to bus out to get ready for everyone. I finally stapled the padding in our bed down too. Now it's not hanging over the edge like a beer gut. Turns out I stapled it all down with a marker still underneath it. (Oh well.) Mark and Jenna came home and I made them watch Green Street Hooligans, a movie I've been trying to get Mark to watch for a while. (It's wicked good.) Jerry and Marrissa showed up right after Brandon and Kelly and the twins came too and brought awesome sandwiches from E and J connection. (Plug) We left super early. Mark drove and it was awesome he did because I've never seen anyone more pissed off. The door latch broke. (Which I fixed later in the night) So it kept slamming even though we had it bungied shut. The windshield wipers didn't wipe the whole window. So every 15 minutes I would stick my arm out the window. Throw water on the window and wipe it off for him. (Don't try this at home, kids.) We made it. I got to Crocodile Rock and the show was already started. I don't know what it is with this place and throwing 27 bands on a show. That means I have to wait around all night. I walked around and saw that everyone of our posters had sh%t drawn on my face. I thought that was awesome. (Some scummy girl or angry boyfriend probably did it. I was wicked stoked. I'm glad I can influence someone's life. Whether good or bad.) We played relatively early so after a few games of ping-pong I was ready to roll. Even though all of us were pretty tired. Our set was stellar and the crowd lit up during "Doppelganger" when I busted out the Soulja Boy. I hope that catches on and everyone starts doing that more for us live.
After our set I took some pictures, sold a few shirts, and went in the pizza shop to read. The magazines there are way lame so that didn't last me long and I went on the bus to help Jerry with his story. (Did I mention on the ride down we were all molding clad around a foam egg to make a human heart replica for Jerry's bio class.) I wrote some of his story because Brandon thought he needed my help. I was disinterested quick and laid down. We were all ready to go but Jordan was taking care of "business" so everyone started bitching. Finally after some attitude we left. I drove back home the first half only because when you drive in our bus you are also the DJ. I wanted to hear some tunes. Nothing too exciting we got back to Mark's and I was the first one to leave because I'm the only one who effin works. (Scumbags.) Until next time.
WOTJ: Fortuitous
I'm going to start rotating these. Sometimes you'll get a song and have a better grasp of life. Sometimes you'll get a word and be smarted. Either way. I LOVE YOU. Thank you for reading.
Hell again, readers/stalkers/fans/friends! We took a little break from shows to focus on writing our new record. As of now I'm calling it "Double Entendre", but we'll see as time goes. I'm way stoked at the new songs we've been writing and reworking. But anyway FYE! What you came to read about. My day at... the mall. (Exciting right?) It was! This was honestly one of my favorite shows being in Goodbye Soundscape to date. After a long work week at my new job. (Which I hate.) I drove up to practice to finally sit down and work these songs out acoustically. It sounded amazing. Mark's vocals and mine were harmonizing so good and it was all just coming together, as it's been recently. (Just good chi in the air now. Well sorta. *Secret handshake*) Afterwards, two of our fans (You know them as "The Twins") turned 21 the night before. Which was bad timing for me because this was a non-pay week. I'm usually generous and would have bought them drinks all night. But I had like $15 bucks to my name so I only got them a beer. Mark and I hung out with them at the Arena for a while until it was time to go home for the show tomorrow. I reminded Mark what he had to bring tomorrow, we hugged, (We're pretty close to gay.) and then I said "Of course, typical us. Show tomorrow where our vocals need to be on key and we go drinking. We suck."
I woke up the next morning with a little headache, I called the dudes. Of course they are running late. (It's getting old.) Mark called me complaining about the same stuff that we've been talking about for weeks now and I hopped in the shower to head up to the mall. I took a long effin shower and sang the whole time. (Why not get some last minute practice in right?) I drove up there around 2. But turned around quickly to grab my video camera. (Which was pointless anyway, I only got like the intro because I had no tape left!) Anyway, Jerry and I walked around until the bus came up. We carried our stuff in and I set up the PA system, that's been sitting at Brandon's house forever because we keep forgetting to take it back to our friend Dave Dinner's house. Luckily, I remembered how it hooks up. I checked the mics went out for a smoke and then sat down at the table they set up for us. I guess we were supposed to sign autographs. I was thinking like what!? I'm probably going to know everyone. Why would they want my autograph. Little did I know after that smoke the place was effin packed. Sorry Saturday shoppers! I couldn't believe how many people came. I mean, a Saturday and a free show. I guess so. But wow! Lots of familiar beautiful young faces and good friends around. I think we sold like 30 cds before we even played. Which was rad. It was almost 4 and Sarah and Jill were like 3:58 let's get a move on. So we sat down. I brought an acoustic and everything but you couldn't even hear it over the amps. (Yes we used amps. Really quiet tap leads. We do acoustic shows artistically. Sans heavy.) But it was cool. A few girls in the front were crying. Which I thought was the cutest thing ever. (I made Chris Caraba jokes.) We played every song from "Our Mutual Friend" and Married To The Sea. I wanted to play Alaska but, that song is really gonna flip - sh*t so I want to save it for the single on our next record. We also had "Boise" by a band I like called Up Up Down Down Left Right Left Right B A Start but Brandon didn't want to because he said people might get offended by the lyrics. (Which was dumb.) Our fans are smart enough to know what we are talking about. If they didn't I'd explain what it's about. Before we played Divorce Me I said "By the way you can take the posters and immediatley like 20 posters were ripped off the wall which was awesome. And to my surprise again I didn't stop signing our cds, posters, and shirts or taking pictures with people for the rest of the night. (By night I mean like 5:30 when I left FYE) And even then I went to the food court to hang out. In this journal I'm not trying to be at all a cocky jerk because we played a show, made girls cry, and signed autographs. (Believe me!) I just honestly want to thank everyone who came out. Bought a cd and gave us a bit of time and liked what you saw or heard. You are why we stay a band and keep Goodbye Soundscape going. I can't thank you enough.
There's always WOTJ (Word of the journal)s but ya know some are going to have extra crap at the end. Like song you should listen to. Advice you should use. I'm in a generous mood.
WOTJ - Nefarious
Song- "Fight Test" - The Flaming Lips
(I've listened to this song every day in 2008 thus far.) It's my New Year's resolution to get over old loves and find new ones.

Continuing from yesterday... Another show. Another day. Another fun time. I woke up around eleven thanks to Jordan texting me to be in the bus at 2:00pm. (Although we weren't leaving until 3. We are always late. So we give ourselves an hour before.) My morning was kind of awesome. It was the usual get up, shower, get dressed, etc. but on the way down the steps to grab my coat. My mom was at my house cooking me a meal. Baller! So I sat down for that. Chatted it up for a bit. Which was cool because we don't get along. I guess the key to my heart is filling my stomach. (Take me on a date. You pay.) So shortly after that I headed out of the house. Stopped at Sheetz to get gas and then headed to Mark's house. I listened to the Type ILL cd on the way there.I must say, it was the perfect legnth for the drive. Pulled into Mark's house. (He wasn't ready. Of course.) So as he went up to shower I headed up to road to Wendy's. (I know. I just ate. I'm a fat kid inside.) I drive a stupid Miata so even in non snowy weather the tiny bit of slush in the drive thru was making me slide all over. Anyway, I made it back. Jerry, Marissa, Jordan, Smirk, Jaybird, KC?, Brandon, Nicole, and Laura were al there awaiting departure. So I went in and cleaned up Dharma, while Jordan did stuff to the engine. (I know d*ck about cars.) Then we were heading out. (Cold as hell.)
Brandon drove down for the most part of it. Jerry did effin weird talents like usual. Everyone else just kinda chilled listening to DJ Bran Bran and smoking. I talked to Jordan's friend Laura the whole time about movies she didn't know. Jordan switched it up at the gas station and drove and parked at place. For the first time ever we were on time. Party. So I got out and got food with the crew. Brandon and I played ping-pong for most of the first band. He was seriously beating my ass until we learned the rules. Then I came around. (I won.) Mark had winner so I started off playing him and it was like 5 to 1 and he's like eff this. He was on the phone though with his girlfriend or not always girlfriend? I don't know. He's wierd. So, I'm 2-0 and feeling good. Jordan though. Killed me! Asians love that ping-pong. I got fed up and hung out and watched a few bands, talked to a few fans and drank a beer. Brandon went off talking with The High Court. (Super nice dudes.) Mark and some random guy had the same American Apparel hoodie on. I didn't know where anyone else was. Jerry was with his girlfriend and smirk trying to clap 1000 times in a minute. (Creep.) After Hit It and Go, we were up. To be honest. Every show at Crocodile Rock was better than the last. I didn't feel the same with this one. A lot of butt rock bands actually. (Long dreaded hair, Warwick playing, really good bass players always flock to those bands) And I think a few people got mad when I threw water into the crowd. (Sometimes I pretend it's Faygo and I'm Violent J. = Kidding) But all in all it wa a decent show. Kids dug it. So we had to load off do our round of pictures with underage girls and pack up the bus. I stayed to watch The High Court than I layed down in the bus awaiting everyone else. We hit the road around ten. Thank god because I thought it would be later and I had work in the morning. Mark took 309 all the way home and it was pretty quiet except for him and I singing to the top of our lungs in the front. (For me only certain ones. I was having a deep conversation but then telling her to hold on when I was going to sing again. Ha ha.) So, Samiam, Old Crow Medicine Show, Jose' Gonzalez, Sia, Weston, all got the duo. Pulled into Mark's around 11:30. I gave smirk (Andy) a ride to Curry Donuts and then I speeded off to my house. Walked right upstairs and passed out. These things are getting shorter and shorted. I don't know if I'm writing them like a day and a half later and not remembering, or once I sit down I had ADD and don't want to finish it. Either way. We are taking a two week break from shows to rework our new songs for a new album we plan to record. So see you February 9th at FYE and keep reading!
WOTJ: Reticently: reluctantly
(I hope you're looking these up. Some of these are in our lyrics and I'd like you to get a much tighter grasp.)
Here we go again. The second installment of the "Tour Journal" of Jeremy Romani. A home-town show. When I say home-town, I literally mean I live eight (or so) blocks from the place. Typical Saturday morning I guess. (Minus the cartoons and hangover) Woke up around noonish. Sinatrah called to tell me they won't be able to make it to my show. (Romani Records show. I held tonight at Metropolis.) So, I started scramblin around hitting up some local friends of mine to fill in the opening slot. Awaiting my return phone calls I head to Perkins to grab some food with Brandon, Ray (who made this website), and Balz (who I pick up along the way). I was pretty hungry but I really only got a salad and then felt stupid that I had to pay with my credit card for like a $2.11 bill. All we really talked about was how awesome Cloverfield was the previous night and how much we can't wait for LOST to come back on the air on the 31st. (By the way, we're straight.) During Brandon eating his Heartland Omelette, Keith from 1120 ( www.myspace.com/eleventwentystudios) gives me a call saying he's outside with the new posters we ordered. I rush out, give a quick thank you and then show off how effin dope I look in them. (Check it out. Badass.) I left a few there for the fellas and then Balz and I went to the mall to give a bunch to FYE for our acoustic show February 9th. (YOU better go. 4:00pm) The manager wasn't there and the dude working was like yeah I'll give them to him and threw them behind him. (Douche) It's now 3:30 and like all band dudes. The lamest part of the day is waiting around for the show. So we just went back to my place to play Ghost Reacon on XBOX live. (That pretty much means make-out. Just kidding.) I didn't even get to play because they kept making me observe the match so I just went online and then Scott from Livingston message me saying he'd open up acoustic. So that was pretty stellar of him. I was/still am under the impression he hates me. However, still nice of him to fill in the spot and give the people more for their buck. We took after shortly after that. Jordan, Mark, and Jenna were hanging in the bus out front. Brandon and Ray went to go pick up some girl for Brandon. I listened to some Anime theme songs until I saw The Gay Blades pull up. It was pretty awesome. James was like come on out and throw a hug on me. (I did.) I haven't seen those dudes in a few years since probably a tour we did with their older band and my older band. It was great to see them though. Doors opened. I set up our merch, smoked way too many cigarettes, went to Januzzi's pizza and then headed back over. By this time it was a little fuller and I saw a lot of our fans waiting to see the party. (My band = party) Scott opened up. I was in The Gay Blades' van drinking and talking about old times. Then ran in just in time to do my guest vocal part in dinoSORES' song 'Hate Mongers Anonymous'. Those dudes were amazing as always. It was a different feel without Pat laying bass but what are you going to do? The Blades went up afterward. I don't think, they think, they went over well. I thought kids liked it. They may have been a little put off by a 2 piece rock and roll outfit spitting and swearing at them a lot. But, it was all in good fun and I think they enjoyed it. And, NEPA is sometimes a scene of "Doing the Stand Still" by The Dismemberment Plan. I loved it. They write catchy-ass songs and put on one hell of a show. We closed the show tonight and I must say. It was very very fun. I'm in love with kids who know everyword and remember things from older shows. Like fans doing the Soulja Boy in "Doppelganger". It rules. Can't stress it enough that it is the reason why we play music. I gave my hugs and goodbyes afterward then jetted over to The Woodlands. I thought I'd have fun but wasn't in the mood to go trying to find people I knew by myself. There were way too many people there. So I left. Came back home got my bags packed for our Crocodile Rock show tomorrow and called it a night. Maybe I'm just tired and trying to finish this thing early, but it wasn't as long. It's either that or I'm just not very exciting. Keep reading!
WOTJ: gravitas - seriousness in subject
Last night, Jordan (The bass player no one remembers about.) and I went to a hockey game with two of his friends. I got pretty rowdy with the two old guys sitting behind us. It was definitely a good time. Anyway, our old drummer Dave Marah threw a party at him and his girlfriend Chrissy's apartment. I was reluctant to go at first, seeing as last party I jumped out of the bathroom window after some random stuff went on in the bathroom with a lady friend of mine. (I'm trying to keep this PG here.) However, feeling single and seeing double from the hockey game we stumbled over there. It was full of good friends, cheap liquor, and people with tattoos. I'm sitting around doing a crossword puzzle. (I told you I'm a loser.) When Mr. Marah thinks it's time to challenge me in Wii Golf. I don't own a Wii, nor want to, but I am effin good! 9 holes later... He's Dave. He's drunk. He's defeated. By this time, I decide to leave. I can barely stand but I'm going to drive to Jordan's (girl friend?) friends house. (Don't drink and drive.) Apparently, I called him saying I'm lost and hung up on him. Called him again saying there's a gas station on my left keep that in mind and then hung up again. Then slammed into a curb and was there. (I do not remember any of this next bit. I'm also leaving a lot of stuff out.) Anyway, instead of saying 'Hi'. I apparently took my pants off and said "Where's my effin joggind pants". (Speaking of the sweat pants belonging to her roomate that I barely fit in but wear if I stay there.) Smoked their cigarettes. Passed out in the bed. Jordan at one point (Still don't remember) came over I said, "Hey man, suck ----." and rolled back over. Well now that you know I was pretty well lit up. That will explain my early morning hangover. Which wasn't all that bad because I slept like a baby. More importantly there was a Wii there and now Jordan has the balls to challenge me at like 12:45. All I wanted to do was play 100 pin bowling to win $50 off of Jenna. (Bet made at Dave's house. Stike on 91 pins. I came close.) I digress. I accept his challenge and swept all the boxing and bowling events. I thought I was king of the castle. I was wrong. During tennis. One miss and your out. (Total BS) I sacrificed focus on the game for comfort in my posture and lost to him. I left shortly after that and stealing a Christmas card, (I told her I was taking it.) that read "Don't buy drugs and beer with this money. Love, Mom" (Awesome right?) Anyway, got home, ate food, started pondering this tour journal entry, even started the beginning half. Then I talked to a few friends/fans online. Besides asking what time I was headed there, they sent me links to MySpace profiles that had cool stuff about Goodbye Soundscape and I on them. Some girl had one of my Romani Records pin as a neklace in her default. Party.
So, I drove seperately to the show. No sense in driving to Mark's house to just go back North to Carbondale. That probably wasn't the best idea. Although the directions were super easy, I got off at the wrong exit. I then drove for like 15 minutes, calling Jordan every 5 and him saying you're almost here. Then having barely any gas. This was the first time we played Fagan's but "Just AJ" always does a good job booking and promoting shows in the area. So it seemed pretty packed. A lot of new faces and a bunch that haven't seen us in a while so that was very nice. We played second and since it was to our hometown pull, and it's 2008. We played a new song for them. It's still untitled. (I'm thinking "Reverse Reverse Reverse") I thought we played rather well. I stayed to watch my god friends in To Outlive The Beginning (Danzang!), Motionless In White and my friend Stygar in his band By All Means. I have to say their music is not my thing but they made that floor move. After that I just lounged around, mingled with fans, sold some tee shirts, and took off in a hung for a gas station. (I'm sure you were expecting like all kinds of fun band stories in the initial tour journal.) Sorry, we do have stories but I didn't drive up and the show was already started when I got there. I pretty much talked with everyone all night until MIW played then I ran on stage for the part TJ never wants to do. I also drove seperately so I was away from the creeps in my band. (I mean creep.) Jerry is a creep. So I'm told in the bathroom of Fagan's the stall has a very large door gap. I believe he looked in on Alex talking to eachother the whole time Alex was dropping one. (Ha.) Anyway, this Journals about me. (Back to what I did. Holy crap this is super effin long. Hey, you asked for this!) Found a gas station got on 81 N and had to turn around. My phone was going dead because everyone called me and needed directions to the party I was heading too. I drove to the deli party directly from the show. (Deli Party? Yes. Two of our fans own a deli and it's always the jump-off.) I rolled up and there were like 30 cars in the parking lot. Intense. I walked in. Everyone came and gave me hugs and kisses. I love it there. Then some kid fell over or slipped or something, just as I walked in. My friend TP grabbed and was like "Whoa watch." Of course someone grabbing someone = everyone assumes a fight. So immediately this kid is in his face and I got to say. That took balls Tony is a huge dude. I stepped in and was like "Calm down, it's done. I'll mop this up." So yeah. Told you I was cool. Five minutes at a party I'm mopping. Just to have the kid come back out of the bathroom. Knock it over again and say "What the F man?" to Tony again. Again no fight. I was waiting though. Tony, said sit down dude and then kid was not having it. He thought it was on, I guess. TP just wanted to talk and tell him to enjoy himself but now that it's escalating for no reason it's getting fiery. Again I stepped in and the kid was like whatever I'm out. (I'm rambling. This is a day in the life of Jerbear. What do you want? I talk a lot.) The kid came back of course and gripped up his girlfriend and they both left. (Sad.) Continuing, everyone said the cops were there. So, everyone ran out like they were graduating from Highschool. (We were mostly all over the age I believe.) I rounded up all the cars moved the party down the block. It was kind of beat and I was getting tired. Turns out the cops did show up and the twins get $300 fines each. (Ouch, but the Romani Records show I run on next Saturday. We'll give them whatever we can. They are nice kids and I'd do anything for our friends/fans. So please come support!) I wanted to leave but I figured I'd crash at Brandon's in Beach Mountain. So I headed there at like 3am. Jerry played Skate all night and I passed out on the couch. This morning Brandon burned me a copy of the "Love Is Hell" album by Ryan Adams. It didn't play. (Make me another Bran Bran) Now I'm home typing this thing.
I probably could have said... Hungover. Ate. Show was awesome. Party. Cops. But, I like to write. (Judge me.) I'm telling myself the first one will just be this long. (It will probably be everyone. Please enjoy.)
Oh yeah, WOTJ (Word Of The Journal) - Digress: to deviate or wander away from the main topic or purpose in speaking or writing; depart from the principal line of argument, plot, study, etc. (Totally what I do in my journals.)
